Jane Marie (Post) Bissell

Jane Marie Post Bissell, age 90, of North East passed away on Monday April 22, 2024 at Parkside North East.

She was born on June 9, 1933 on her family's farm in North East PA, the daughter of the late Archie G. and Gertrude May Post.

Jane graduated from North East High School in 1951 and was formerly employed at Electric Materials until retirement. She was crowned North East Grape Queen in 1950. Jane loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Bissell whom she married on April 2, 1954. She was further preceded in death by brothers Russell “Rusty” Post and Howard Post; sister Marjorie Edwards; sisters-in-law Jane Post and Joyce Post; and brother-in-law Bill Edwards.

She is survived by her four children; daughters Gwendolyn “Wendy” Cabrera (Luis) of Erie and Julie Bozich (Gerry) of Millcreek; sons, Scot Bissell of Tavares, FL and Eric Bissell (Ellen) of Harborcreek; brothers-in-law Ivan Bissell (Sandy) of Orchard Park and Ralph Bissell (Mary) of Harborcreek; grandchildren Brandon Bissell (Jess), Ashley Wilczynski (Jacob), Whitney Stokes (Ricky), Cassie Bissell, Andrew Roman (Ashley), Nicholas Bozich (Katelyn), and Joseph Bozich; great-grandchildren Gweneviere, Liam, Elena, and Elizabeth.

Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Thursday, April 25th from 3:00 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Officiating the service is Rev. Gregory Edwards.
